| Weight Program FAQ's

  • Do I have to take appetite suppressants?

Absolutely not! Appetite suppressants are offered to help patients who need additional support. However, they are not necessary to be in the program. Dr. Hughes has many patients who are very successful without the use of appetite suppressants. Please note that Dr. Hughes will decide if you are a candidate for appetite suppressants based on your medical history, physical, and EKG.

Dr. Hughes offers natural options for patients who are not candidates or do not desire appetite suppressants but feel they need additional help.

  • What are appetite suppressants?

They are safe, effective, and control hunger. They are FDA approved and are recommended by the National Institute of Health for the treatment of weight loss. We only use FDA approved appetite suppressants because their long-term safety and efficacy are recommended by the National Institute of Health.

  • What are weekly injections?

The supplemental injections are a combination of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that are vital to our weight loss program, as they enhance your weight loss results. They help your body eliminate fat, control carbohydrate metabolism, aid your body’s immune system, and increase energy. We strongly encourage their use not only as part of the program but as a supplement to your daily lifestyle.

  • What is the average weight loss of a patient?

The typical patient that follows our program will lose 5 to 10 pounds their 1st week and can lose 10 to 20 pounds their 1st month. Progressive weight loss is considered 1 to 2 pounds per week.

  • I just had an EKG done and /or blood work. Can I bring them in instead of having them re-done at your office?

In order to ensure we provide you the best service, an EKG and blood work must be performed during the initial visit so that the most current and accurate results can be used in the evaluation process by our physicians.

  • Do I have to come into the office weekly?

Weekly visits are essential to your success, as this gives you an opportunity for Dr. Hughes to assess your progress and to sit one-on-one with you to discuss problems, questions, and concerns. It is because of this personal interaction with Dr. Hughes and her staff that you will not only be given a method on how to lose weight, but you will gain a support system. Visits typically take 15-30 minutes.

  • What is the nutritional plan?

We have a 3-phase nutritional program which includes an initiation fat-burning phase, active weight loss phase, and long-term maintenance. We use a customized meal plan of lean protein, low glycemic nutrient-rich fruits, and veggies complimented by some select complex carbs. Our nutritional plan is proven and effective as it increases the body’s ability to burn fat and curb sweet and starch cravings.

  • Do I have to exercise?

As part of our personal assessment, we will evaluate your current level of exercise and make recommendations that will instill exercise into your lifestyle as an aid in meeting your healthy weight range.

  • How long does the initial consultation normally last?

We suggest that each patient plan your schedule to allow 90 minutes for the initial visit.
